SKIING / SNOWBOARDING in Chamonix Valley The Chamonix Valley is unrivalled as one of the greatest ski locations in the world. It offers easy access to 5 areas, all different but each awesome in its own way. Les Houches; Le Brévent & Le Flégère; Les Grand Montets; Le Tour or Aguille du Midi - the choice is yours!
Offering one of the most varied ski areas in the Chamonix Valley, Les Houches is suitable for all levels, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced.
Les Houches is the location for regular international Ski World Cup events and serves as the training ground of the French National Ski Team. The varied choice of pistes offers downhill, cross-county, snowboarding, telemark and ski jumping, as well as off-piste for the more adventurous.
The resort has 18 lifts and 86 snow cannons. Skiing in Les Houches combines long descents through pine forests with spectacular views of the Mont Blanc ranges. The tree-lined pistes mean that you can ski even when the weather closes in.
Les Houches is the ideal place for a ski holiday, with all the ski areas of the Chamonix Valley on our doorstep, including the Italian resort of Courmayeur (just 20 mins away).
LE BRÉVENT & LA FLÉGÈRE
Linked by cable car, these 2 ski areas are situated on the sunny side of the valley and are suited to those of an intermediate level and above, providing both gentle skiing and demanding runs off-piste.
The area offers many mountain restaurants with sun terraces from which to enjoy the fantastic views of Mont Blanc.
LES GRAND MONTETS
Perhaps Chamonix's most famous skiing mountain, offering excellent snow and skiing above 2000m. Mostly for good skiers and boarders, with many testing and varied pistes and plenty of easily accessible off-piste terrain - rated as some of the best in the world!
At the upper end of the valley, with great views and plenty of sun, Le Tour's gentle slopes are ideal for beginners and intermediates.
AGUILLE DU MIDI
One of the highest cable cars in Europe, taking you to a spectacular view of The Alps and a close up of Mont Blanc. From here, you can ski the world's most famous off-piste run, the 22km Vallee Blanche, suitable for those of an intermediate level and above.
All areas can be reached by car (we offer a daily transport service), bus or SNCF trains.
We know that you're dying to get onto the slopes, so to save you time we can organise passes in advance to be waiting for you when you arrive.
We suggest the Mont Blanc Unlimited pass, which opens up an unrivalled choice of skiing in the whole of the Mont Blanc Valley region and includes a day's skiing in Courmayeur, or a Les Houches ski pass, for skiing solely in Les Houches.
All equipment can be organised for you from our friendly local ski hire shop in Les Houches. They offer expert advice and excellent rates and have a wide range of the latest skiing and snowboarding equipment.
GUIDING AND INSTRUCTION
We recommend ESF, who provide both private and group lessons (varying degrees of English spoken). We can also recommend some good, English-speaking private instructors/guides.
Lessons and guides can be arranged to suit your needs and we strongly recommend that you book these in advance, which we can do for you. Please contact us to discuss your requirements or for any further information.
